11th Congress of the International Colour Association 2009
Invitation
On behalf of the Colour Society of Australia and the organising committee of AIC Colour 2009 I am pleased to invite you to the eleventh AIC Congress to be held in the spectacular harbour city of Sydney, Australia, between September 27th and October 2nd 2009.
Plans for an exciting and stimulating Congress are well advanced. In the programme there are features that will be familiar and others that are new. In addition to providing a forum for specialists to share the latest findings from their colour research we are keen to promote greater dialogue between people working in different disciplines and to provide opportunities for delegates to broaden their understanding of colour.
We will be offering a series of pre-congress Colour Skills workshops; these will be sessions providing an overview of current issues in colour science, colour technology, colour in art and design and colour vision.
Additionally there will be two symposia the themes of which will be approached from the perspective of the arts and the sciences. Symposia themes are:
- ‘Good’ colours, ‘bad’ colours, humanity and the environment
- Harmony of Appearance: phenomena and measurement
Acceptance of papers for oral or poster presentation will be subject to review of extended abstracts, but we will also offer delegates the opportunity to have their full papers sent to referees. The Congress proceedings will be published in separate volumes, one exclusively for fully refereed papers.
The Colour Market is a new concept and will have books and examples of Australian design for sale as well as displays of instruments and other products for those who work professionally with colour.
The social programme includes a welcome reception and farewell party as well as a banquet. The choice of excursions will include an opportunity to climb to the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The colours of Australia will be highlights of pre- and post-congress tours. Destinations will include the Great Barrier Reef and the ‘Red Centre’. We hope you will take this opportunity to visit us to share knowledge and experience and we look forward to welcoming you to ‘The Great Southern Land’.
For more information on the Congress, please visit www.aic2009.org
